Applies To: All users of the Bloc app and related services

1. Introduction

Bloc is a social networking platform where users can upload photos, videos, and check in to social venues. We are deeply committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all users, especially minors. We recognize the serious and ongoing threat of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) online, and have implemented clear standards, technologies, and moderation policies to prevent and respond to such content.

This document outlines our externally published standards against CSAE, in line with global best practices and platform policies required by the Google Play Store and international regulations.

2. Policy on CSAE Content

Bloc has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards any form of content that depicts, promotes, normalizes, or facilitates:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM/CSEM)

  • Sexual exploitation or grooming of minors

  • Sexualized depictions of children, even in fictionalized, AI-generated, or cartoon form

  • Inappropriate adult–minor interactions or behavior that violates our code of conduct

Any such content will be immediately removed, and the account involved will be permanently suspended. We report all confirmed CSAE content to relevant legal authorities and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or its regional equivalent.

3. Proactive Safety Measures

We employ a layered approach to CSAE prevention:

a. Content Filtering and Detection

  • We use AI-based tools and automated classifiers to detect known and novel CSAM using hash-matching (e.g., PhotoDNA or similar technologies).

  • Content uploads (photos, videos, descriptions) are scanned using our moderation filters and flagged for review when necessary.

b. Human Moderation

  • A dedicated moderation team reviews flagged content promptly.

  • Users can report suspicious behavior or content via an in-app reporting system.

c. Age Verification and Protections

  • We require users to confirm that they are 18+ during registration.

  • Underage users are restricted from viewing or uploading inappropriate content.

  • We do not allow adult–minor messaging unless part of verified, moderated group experiences (e.g., public venue comments with strict controls).

d. Grooming Prevention

  • We restrict unsolicited direct messages between unknown users.

  • Conversations that include suspicious language or behavioral patterns are flagged by our AI for human review.

4. Reporting CSAE Content

Users are encouraged to report any inappropriate or harmful content directly from within the app. All reports are triaged by our Trust & Safety team.

We also provide a direct line for reporting CSAE content:

We will cooperate with law enforcement agencies and respond to valid requests for user data when legally required.

5. External Standards and Frameworks Followed

Bloc aligns with internationally accepted CSAE prevention frameworks including:

6. Ongoing Improvements

Our CSAE protection standards are continuously reviewed and improved based on:

  • Community feedback

  • New threats or attack vectors

  • Evolving AI detection technologies

  • Partnerships with child safety organizations

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of child safety and online integrity.
