The Best Restaurants in Wimbledon

restaurants in wimbledon

You may be here for the tennis, but you’ll want to stay for the food, because some of London’s best restaurants are right here in Wimbledon.

As a major hot spot for tennis fans and locals alike, Wimbledon knows it has to deliver top-quality dining. The area offers a huge range of cuisines and vibes. If the goal is to keep those fancy, classy tennis vibes going, there are plenty of elevated fine-dining spots. But if you’ve had enough of that and just want comforting classics, there’s an equally great line-up of relaxed pubs and low-key eateries perfect for a casual bite.

Megan’s at the Village

Megan’s is probably the least controversial restaurant out there. The menu keeps everyone happy – meat lovers, veggies, vegans, it gets the job done!

We went for dinner, and the vibe inside is the perfect combo of cute and cosy. It has fairy lights giving it that warm relaxing feel, and it’s not cramped either. We all know the feeling of being elbow-to-elbow with strangers, overhearing conversations we really didn’t need to be a part of.

We ordered the sharing platter. This came stacked with hot honey halloumi, feta parcels, pita chips – basically, a picky bits lover’s dream.

Did we need the cheese fondue after that? Absolutely not. Did we order it anyway? Obviously. And honestly it was probably one of the best things we tried. Bread and cheese is always a win.

They’ve also got loads of lighter Mediterranean dishes too. For example, spicy grilled chicken or open kebabs packed with hummus and salad. Super flavourful and not stingy on the portions at all.

Have to try: the original Turkish cheese fondue
Perfect for: Fun with friends
Approx price for 2: £40 – £60

Al Forno

Al Forno is a super family-friendly Italian spot on King’s Road. It’s got those rustic, traditional interiors and a fun, buzzy atmosphere, yet still feels refined enough to count as a proper night out.

We kicked things off with one of our forever favourites: zucchini fritters. If we see them on a menu, they’re on our table. Crispy, salty, and perfect with a chilled glass of white. They disappeared way too fast, so we quickly followed with the arancini. These were perfectly fried rice balls stuffed with seasoned mushrooms and cheese, served with an addictive sweet-chilli sauce. Starter heaven.

For mains, we hit a pasta-or-pizza dilemma and did the only sensible thing: ordered both. The stone-baked pizzas arrive piping hot and hit the spot. We kept it classic with the burrata, garlic, and rocket—refreshing but hearty. For our pasta adventure, we chose the seafood linguine, loaded with mussels, prawns, and clams in a garlicky tomato sauce.

Have to try: Stone baked burrata pizza
Perfect for: Family meal out
Approx. price for two: £65–£75 (sharing a starter, two mains, and a glass of wine each)

The Black Lamb

The Black Lamb’s interiors are gorgeous and moody, and the menu screams elevated, bougie gastropub vibes.

We kicked things off with the Peach & Rose Cup—a fruity, floral delight that’s ridiculously refreshing. It paired perfectly with their carrot hummus, feta, and chilli dip served with crispbread. Fair warning: these are dangerously addictive, so order mains early to avoid refilling on them.

As mentioned, the menu is definitely on the fancy side, so maybe not the place for super picky eaters. For mains, we went for the Cornish pollock with peas and baby gem lettuce. Sounds simple, but the miso butter sauce is next-level and makes this dish unforgettable. Also, don’t skip the spiced cauliflower side—topped with mint yogurt, sultanas, and crispy onions, it’s a total flavour-and-texture bomb.

To finish, we shared the white chocolate mousse with fresh berry compote. Light, creamy, and the perfect refreshing end. All the ingredients are locally sourced and the freshness truly shines.

Have to try: Spiced cauliflower with mint yogurt and crispy onions
Perfect for: Family meal out
Approx price for 2: £70–£85 (cocktails, starters to share, two mains, dessert)

Cent Anni

We’re back at it again at another Italian gem: Cent Anni in Wimbledon Village. The interiors are simple and minimalist, but trust us—the flavours are anything but.

We kicked things off with their Rose Petal Martini—it tastes exactly how it sounds. Fragrant, floral, and zero complaints from us. And of course, every great drink needs a worthy carb companion. The homemade rosemary focaccia was dreamy, with a crisp golden crust and fluffy centre. Pro tip: pair it with the burrata starter topped with cherry tomatoes and basil. Using the focaccia to scoop up all that creamy burrata is a next-level experience.

For mains, pasta was the only way to go. While the menu has plenty of rich, meaty options, the simple veggie choice called to us. The beetroot ravioli, bathed in a nutty burnt butter sauce and sprinkled with crispy sage, was pure indulgence in every bite.

Have to try: Beetroot ravioli, burnt butter sauce, crispy sage
Perfect for: Date night
Approx price for 2: £65–£80

The Ivy Cafe Wimbledon

The Ivy really needs no introduction. It’s a classic for special occasions, but the Ivy Café in Wimbledon Village delivers those elegant vibes with a more relaxed, low-key feel. Still top-quality meals, just a touch more chilled.

Dining here feels like a little trip around the world. Their menu doesn’t stick to one cuisine, and neither did we. We kicked off in Italy with perfectly crunchy truffle arancini, then hopped to Japan with the must-order tempura prawns. They’re served with pickled cucumber, seaweed, and a spicy-tangy kimchi sauce.

For mains, we stayed in Asia but headed to Thailand, diving into the massaman duck curry. Think tender duck pieces swimming in a rich, coconutty sweet-potato and spinach curry, paired with fragrant rice. Pure comfort.

To finish, we couldn’t skip the Ivy’s famous chocolate bombe: hot caramel sauce melting over silky chocolate and creamy vanilla ice cream. Absolute bliss.

Have to try: Crispy tempura prawns and the Ivy Chocolate Bombe
Perfect for: Special occasions
Approx price for 2: £90–£110

Chango

We definitely switched things up when we visited Chango. Usually we stick to our usual suspects—Chinese, Italian, Indian—but this time we went full-on Argentinian. Now, we’re hooked. It’s proof that branching out is always worth it, because this place quickly became one of our go-to comfort-food spots.

The vibe is super relaxed and low-key, with plenty of seating, but it’s also perfect for a quick grab-and-go. Empanadas are their specialty, and the menu is stacked with options. Our advice? Order a mix of flavours to switch things up—and maybe a few extras for a late-night “secret stash.” Honestly, empanadas are the ultimate comfort snack.

For a hearty hit, go for the spicy chicken—they don’t mess around with the heat, and the chicken is marinated to perfection. If indulgence is the goal, the four cheese is a must. Think of a classic toastie, but on another level entirely.

Have to try: Four cheese empanadas
Perfect for: Grab and go bite
Approx price for 2: £10–£30

Bombay Delight

Care to hazard a guess at what Bomby Delight is serving up? Yep—homely, authentic Indian food that truly lives up to its name.

The menu is a joy to explore, with plenty of dishes we don’t always see at our usual curry spot. Sure, we love a good onion bhaji, but there’s so much more! A real standout was the sticky tamarind chicken wings, marinated in a spicy ginger-garlic mix. They also offer fun, modern twists like avocado chaat, crisp calamari, and chilli garlic mogo. These cassava chips tossed in chilli and garlic pair perfectly with a cold drink.

For mains, of course a curry had to make the table. We went for the dhaba chicken, where the meat falls off the bone into a rich, spicy tomato sauce. Veggie fans, don’t miss the butter paneer masala. It’s cubes of cheese in a creamy, decadent sauce, best scooped up with a warm, fluffy garlic naan.

Dessert is another adventure, with a mix of classic Indian sweets, beloved British treats, and clever fusion options. Good luck choosing just one!

Have to try: Spicy tamarind chicken wings
Perfect for: Family meal out
Approx price for 2: £35–£65

Dog and Fox

The name probably gives it away, but The Dog & Fox is both a pub and a hotel on Wimbledon High Street. It’s the perfect mix of traditional and refined. AKA no post-meal regrets about “should we have just gone to our local?” Here, it still feel like it’s a bit of a special occasion, making it great for celebrations or even a classy work lunch.

They also keep things fun with regular events, so check the schedule before. Think live music, pub quizzes, even sip-and-paint nights—how unique is that?

Most importantly, the food is proper, hearty British pub fare done right. We kicked off with cheddar croquettes served with a creamy, slightly spicy nduja aioli. Absolute heaven with a chilled beer or spritz. For mains we stuck to a true classic: fish and chips, but with a bougie twist. Think beer-battered haddock, thick-cut chips, and not one but **two sauces—tartare and curry—**because essentials are essentials.

Have to try: Live music, pub quizzes
Perfect for: Family meal out
Approx price for 2: £45–£55

Grilandia Wimbledon

Grilandia is pure eye candy—lush greenery everywhere and lanterns dripping from the ceiling. Basically an enchanted garden we could eat in. They’ve got branches all over London, and it’s easy to see why. Despite being a mini-chain, the quality never slips, and the portions are massive, so you’re guaranteed serious bang for your buck.

Faced with a regular menu the size of a novel, we took the easy route and ordered the set menu. It conveniently featured everything we crave from a Lebanese spot. Starters were the tried-and-true duo of hummus and baba ganoush, served with their pillowy homemade Lebanese bread—never gets old.

For mains, we chose the chicken shish from the grill, complete with golden fries. The meat was smoky and perfectly charred, and the chilli-garlic sauce was such a must that they didn’t even wait for us to ask. Dessert was baklava, naturally—our only gripe was wishing for a few more sweet options.

Have to try: Chicken shish
Perfect for: Casual catch up with friends
Approx price for 2: £40–£50

Sticks N Sushi Wimbledon

Sticks’n’Sushi have spots all across London, so we knew the vibe but were still impressed. The interiors are sophisticated and sexy – they’re sleek, dark, and effortlessly cool.

Their cocktail list is Japanese-inspired and honestly deserves as much attention as the food. No basic pornstar martinis here (thankfully). Our favourite was the lychee martini, a total classic, but the Tiki Fuji Punch really stood out. Rum, coconut, grapefruit liqueur, pineapple—all normal so far, right? But then they add matcha. And it works!

As for the sushi, the menu is loooong and we just wanted a taste of everything. We went for the lobster abokado roll with avocado, cucumber, soya sesame, chives, and coriander—delicate and beautifully put together. Another must-try is the Hell’s Kitchen kaburimaki: topped with tuna, stuffed with tempura shrimp and avocado, and finished with the most addictive spicy sauce.

Have to try: Hell’s kitchen kaburimaki (tempura shrimp, avocado, spicy mayo)
Perfect for: Date night
Approx price for 2: £70–£100
