The Best Hotels in Covent Garden

The Best Hotels in Covent Garden

Being one of London’s biggest tourist hotspots, it’s no surprise that Covent Garden is home to some of the city’s best hotels.

Smack in the centre of town, you’ve got easy access to wherever you need to be. Excellent transport links, endless restaurants, shops, and cultural gems. But honestly? Once you’re here, you won’t even want to go anywhere else. It’s just that beautiful. There’s shopping, dining, theatre, and that unbeatable, buzzy atmosphere. Why wouldn’t you want to stay in the thick of it?

And hey, even if you’re not a tourist and proudly call this city home, why face the pain of rush-hour tubing when you could have a plush hotel bed waiting just steps away from your perfect Covent Garden day out?

The Resident Covent Garden

The Resident is in a prime spot . It’s got that classic English exterior charm, but the inside is super sleek and modern. Plus, it’s right near all the touristy faves like the West End, Covent Garden Market, and the Royal Opera House, so you’re pretty much set up for an ideal stay.

One thing we really appreciated? The fact that every room comes with its own mini kitchen. As much as we love eating out, sometimes you just want to have something simple, familiar – or even homemade. And with the Nespresso machine and complementary pods, there’s no need to leave the room and pay £6 for a watered-down Starbucks. It’s thoughtful little touches like this that made the stay feel extra chill.

They even offer an in-room grocery service – so if you’ve had a long day out and can’t be bothered to carry one more bag, just let them know what you need and they’ll stock you up. Honestly, how handy is that?

Have to try: In room groceries service
Perfect for: More independent hotel stay
Approx price for 2:  £220–£300 per night depending on room type and season.

Henrietta Experimental

Henrietta Experimental is a gorgeous boutique hotel that truly captures the Georgian-style architecture of the area. We stayed in the Covent Garden Superior room, which was beautifully minimalist – just the right size, and the mosaic-patterned carpet was such a nice touch.

The real highlight here has to be their restaurant, Henri. Inspired by both French and British cuisine, it gives you that classic English feel but with a bougie, elevated twist. You absolutely must try the iced black tiger prawns, spiced with yuzu and jalapeños, and for a truly French experience, go for the grilled snails. They serve it as a proper meal alongside veal rice, making it extra special.

The hotel also has a bar with some seriously delicious cocktails – perfect for pre-theatre drinks. We went for the Gaston, a rum, amaretto, and apple shrub mix that was delightfully fruity and sweet.

Have to try: Henri (the restaurant)
Perfect for: Pre-theatre meal and drinks
Approx price for 2: £250 per night, with dining and cocktails typically adding £70–£100 depending on your order.

One Aldwych

One Aldwych is just absolute luxury. It’s an independent hotel, so you can really feel the heart and soul poured into the design, hospitality, and overall atmosphere. The vibe is bright and modern – all shades of white and cool grey, so it still feels lively and fresh while being effortlessly chic. Plus, the views over Covent Garden? Unmatchable.

One thing you absolutely have to do while staying here is try the “Pure Imagination” Afternoon Tea, inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It’s magical. Yes, kids will love it, but adults? Equally obsessed. It brings back that nostalgic sense of wonder with fizzy lifting drinks, milkshakes, and whacky, whimsical cakes. Who needs the West End when this is the show?

Don’t skip lunch at Indigo Restaurant either. Their menus are so well thought-out and are actually inspired by contemporary art. We love that they aren’t sticking to the basics -it’s exciting, it’s different, and you can feel the creativity in every dish..

Have to try: “Pure Imagination” Afternoon Tea (Charlie and the chocolate factory inspired)
Perfect for: Family fun
Approx price for 2: starting from £500–£650+ (with food, drinks, afternoon tea)

Middle Eight Hotel

Middle Eight is sexy, sophisticated, and modern. The layout is minimalist, but they’ve absolutely nailed the pops of colour and design details throughout to give it that elevated, elegant-but-effortless vibe. It’s the kind of place that feels intentional — clearly well thought out.

Their main restaurant, Sycamore, is serving top-tier Italian food in a beautiful setting. We started with the homemade focaccia, which was perfectly spongy and had the most subtle hint of rosemary. For mains, we obviously had to indulge, and went for the sourdough pizza. Doughy yet crispy at the same time… how do they do it?! They’ve also got meat, fish, pastas, and lighter salad options if you’re feeling something fresher.

You have to check out their late-night speakeasy bar too. It’s seriously slick, they’ve hosted fashion shows, product launches, and more. It even has its own private entrance which just adds to the mystery and excitement.

Have to try: Sycamore restaurant
Perfect for: Special Occasions
Approx price for 2: £300–£450, more for suites

Covent Garden Hotel

Perhaps not the most exciting name, but Covent Garden Hotel has absolutely nailed elegance, sophistication, and overall cuteness in their interiors. The rooms and lounges feel like dollhouse royalty come to life.

If you want to fully embrace British culture during your stay, don’t miss the royal afternoon tea. You get a selection of classic English sandwiches – our favorite had to be the smoked salmon and cream cheese – plus freshly baked scones. (Debate all you want, but it’s cream first, then jam for us.) And to finish, an array of classic British cakes and desserts. It’s £45 per person, but totally worth it for the experience.

They even have a film club, where you can luxuriously watch current award-winning films with different packages that include popcorn or champagne. Such a cool, fresh concept, and honestly, so much fun!

Have to try: Royal afternoon tea
Perfect for: Special Occasions
Approx price for 2: £400–£500 per night, depending on room choice and season.

Dean Street Townhouse

Dean Street Townhouse isn’t technically in Covent Garden, it’s actually in the heart of Soho. But it’s a 10-minute walk, and you asked for the best of the best, right?

This spot has a super traditional British feel, with its Georgian architecture, candlelit tables, intricately designed carpets and tapestries. It’s exactly where you should go if you’re looking to fully immerse yourself in British culture. And let’s be real – you haven’t really been to England if you haven’t had a Sunday roast. If your trip ends before Sunday… extend it.

They do a two or three-course set menu. We’d recommend going for mains and dessert. For mains, you can choose from beef, chicken, pork or a veggie option — all served with roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese (the best bit), and seasonal veg. For dessert, get the sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. It’s an absolute dream.

They also serve a lovely afternoon tea, and honestly, you’ll feel like royalty with the service and the way they set everything up.

Have to try: Sunday Roast
Perfect for: Immersing yourself in British culture
Approx price for 2: Starting from £250–£400 per night, depending on the room type and season.

St Martin's Lane London

St Martin’s Lane is located right in the West End and takes all that bright, electric energy from the theatre scene and spreads it across the hotel. It’s modern, slick, super spacious and airy. Honestly the perfect place to crash after hours of pushing through London crowds and being trapped like sardines on the tube.

They’re always doing something fun, so check their offers before booking. One we saw was the “Totally Clueless Stay” in honour of Clueless running on West End — they deck out the Garden Suite with full Beverly Hills glamour and you really do feel like that girl.

The standout, though, has to be their speakeasy-style bar. The cocktails are wild (in the best way). We went for the Kingston – rum, coconut rum, mango liqueur, and coconut milk — and it was a creamy, fruity, exotic delight

Have to try: “Blind Spot” Bar
Perfect for: Fun with friends
Approx price for 2: £250 per night

The Lincoln Suites

The Lincoln Suites, although not situated directly in Covent Garden, is just a stone’s throw away and in an ideal location to get to all the hot spots in the city with ease.

This one’s perfect for Londoners who don’t necessarily want a full-blown luxury hotel, but still want a bit of luxury in other ways. They offer bougie, elevated aparthotel rooms so you get that cosy, homely feeling while still feeling like you’re on a little break from everyday life. All rooms come equipped with a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, and other extras depending on your room choice. This is perfect, especially in the city, as it means not every meal has to drain your pockets. Sometimes, a pot noodle just hits at 12 am.

And if you’re wondering what’s on, head to reception. They’re super helpful and will give you proper recommendations so you don’t waste time wandering or end up somewhere mid.

Have to try: Kingsway studio
Perfect for: Homely stay
Approx price for 2: £200–£300 per night depending on the room and time of year.

The Z Hotel

The Z Hotel is perfect when you’re looking for something way more affordable than what’s unfortunately the norm in London, but still want a touch of luxury. You don’t have to pick between some unhygienic shack and 7-star bougieness.

It’s in a top-tier location, just a 3-minute walk from Covent Garden Station and Charing Cross. So you can literally roll out of bed and be on the tube in seconds. No rushing, no chaos.  Enjoy your mornings without the panic of being late to tours or brunches.

Rooms are compact but come with everything you actually need: en suite, TV, air con, coffee, WiFi — all the essentials. It was a very pleasant stay, and honestly it just means you can save your money for the real reason you’re in Covent Garden: the restaurants, shows, markets, shops, and everything else right on your doorstep.

Have to try: Z Inside Double Room
Perfect for: Affordable, luxury stay
Approx price for 2: £90–£130 depending on season and room type
