The Best Pubs in Canary Wharf
With some of the best views of London’s skyline, it’s no surprise that the best bars and pubs are situated in Canary Wharf.
Known as one of the world’s leading financial centres, the area naturally caters to its demographic: tired, burnt-out business people in need of a reliable pint and good vibes. Nobody here has the time (or patience) to go searching across town for a decent spot — so the pubs rise to the occasion.
Sometimes, all we need is a solid “sit down for a quick pint” kind of place. Sometimes we need a spot where we can loosen the tie, unbutton the shirt, and forget all worries for a couple of hours. No matter what the vibe is, Canary Wharf has you covered.

The George
The George is the perfect mix of traditional and modern. Just enough to remind you that you’re in Canary Wharf, not your local back home.
For the more traditional pub crowd, you’re sorted. There are big HD TVs screening live sports, dartboards, and plenty of space to just hang out and catch up with friends. But if you’re after something livelier, head down on a Friday when they have DJ sessions. The music is mixed, which some love, and others not so much. Sometimes you’ll be up grooving (80s hits for us), and other times you’ll be sat down, muttering the famous “shall we get another drink?” (definitely when the DnB kicks in).
Big bonus: they do 2-for-1 cocktails all night long, so you’re not breaking the wallet. Our favourite was the Tropical Breeze (Malibu, melon liqueur, pineapple), but honestly, you’ll probably end up making your way through most of the menu.
Have to try: 2 for 1 cocktails
Perfect for: Fun with friends
Approx price for 2: £50–£70

BrewDog Canary Wharf
BrewDog is hardly an unfamiliar name, with locations dotted all across the country. The Canary Wharf spot is no exception — a massive space with that classic buzzing, rowdy feel, but more modern than your traditional pub. It basically feels like one big house party, with sofas in one corner and dining tables in another.
The food here is every tipsy (or fully drunk) person’s fantasy. Honestly, it feels like they’ve thought of every craving you’ve ever had on the booze. We went for the buffalo chicken burger with blue cheese sauce, plus a side of fries. But not just any fries — the spice bag is a must. Think fries loaded with chillies, spring onions, red peppers, onions, and curry sauce. If you know, you know. Definitely one to share though — it’s hefty. And since this is a beer hall, it only made sense to pair it with a cold IPA. Day = made.
Have to try: Spice bag fries

Approx price for 2: £45–£60

The Gun
Can’t lie, when we first heard the name, we expected a nitty-gritty, hardcore traditional English pub. Nope — quite the opposite, and nobody was mad about it. Instead, it’s refined, elegant, and serves up some of the best views overlooking the river.
Sitting in the pub garden is really the only choice here, making it a top summer spot. They offer al fresco dining with a menu of freshly made pizzas. The standout for us was the pepperoni with red onion and chillies. Absolutely divine. And credit where it’s due, they understand the ultimate decider of a good pizza joint: the crust dipper. Their pesto and garlic mayonnaise was so good it deserves to be bottled and sold.
The wine list is also seriously impressive, and since pizza was the motive, it had to be done. A crisp Chardonnay in the summer sun? The dream.
Have to try: Pizza in the garden
Perfect for: Meal out with the family
Approx price for 2: £50–£70 (pizza + wine)

Pepper Street Tavern
Pepper Street Tavern is an independent pub that makes sure to keep all the casual, good-time vibes of a classic local, despite being in the heart of Canary Wharf.
Our favourite part is definitely the games room. Its got all the classics — pool, table tennis, darts, and even some arcade games. After a few beers, it definitely gets competitive, but it’s all in good fun.
It’s also a winner for sports fans. With 17 TVs (yes, seventeen), you don’t need to stress about getting a bad view — you’re almost guaranteed a perfect spot. They’re best known for their beer, and we’d recommend starting with their house-poured Peroni. Pair that with live sports and a plate of chunky chips, and you’ve got pub perfection.
Have to try: The games room
Perfect for: Fun with friends
Approx price for 2: £35–£50 (pints + snacks)

The Ledger Building
Don’t be fooled by the name — yes, it’s a Wetherspoons, but quite possibly the classiest one out there. Being in Canary Wharf usually means your pockets will cry, but not here!
We don’t need to say much that people don’t already know. Honestly, can you ever complain about the food? It’s surprisingly good for how cheap it is, especially the fish and chips. If you know, you know. This spot feels very different from your local Spoons — fewer weirdos, zero scary vibes. Perfect for a cheap lunch or a night of getting drunk on a budget.
Have to try: Fish and chips
Perfect for: Budget drinking
Approx price for 2: £15–£35

The Grapes
The Grapes is a well-loved and reliable spot, and having been open for over 500 years, you’d expect nothing less!
The food delivers everything you want from classic pub grub, with a few fancy twists. For starters, we went for the halloumi sticks, perfectly balanced with a sweet and sticky mango chutney. For mains, of course, we had the fish and chips. No pub can mess this up — and this one takes it to another level: super fresh, flaky, and served with all the correct trimmings. Yes, there’s a correct answer: mushy peas, chips, and tartare sauce. Add curry sauce, and they get a gold star.
On top of that, every Tuesday they host a pub quiz, making it the perfect spot to show off your random knowledge… or completely embarrass yourself. Either way, it’s a great laugh.

Perfect for: Fun with friends
Approx price for 2: £45–£60 (pub grub + drinks)

The Henry Addington
The Henry Addington is definitely a spot to go with the intention of eating. Honestly, even just walking in, the smells are temptation enough — so you might as well dive in.
We highly recommend the small plates, which pair perfectly with a drink (or five). The calamari is always a winner, and the sticky chicken was bursting with flavour, with meat so tender it practically melts in your mouth. But the ultimate prize goes to the loaded chunky chips — topped with succulent pulled beef brisket and creamy mature cheddar cheese sauce. Decadent? Yes. Regrets? None.
And yes, we love a pub cocktail, especially on a summer day when wine or beer just doesn’t hit the spot. The Tommy’s Margarita with a salt rim was absolute perfection — the perfect buzz with just a hint of sweetness. But don’t worry, if you’re keeping it classic, they also have a long wine and beer list to choose from.
Have to try: Chunky loaded chips
Perfect for: Drinks and snacks
Approx price for 2: £50–£70 (small plates + cocktails)
