The Best Cafés in Canary Wharf

Cafes in Canary Wharf

Canary Wharf can feel hectic at the best of times, which is exactly why a good collection of calm, welcoming cafés is essential.

London’s financial hub is full of deadlines and quick tempers, so places that coax people out of the office for a proper pause are a must. Whether you’re desperate for a change of scene, need a laptop-friendly spot away from the bed while working from home, or just want a slow catch-up with friends, there’s a café for you.

This guide highlights some of the best spots in Canary Wharf. We’ve got laid-back coffee bars to more refined spots with pastries and small plates to keep you fuelled.

Notes Coffee Roasters

Notes Coffee Roasters is a favourite with hardcore coffee fans—and we’d bet it could turn a coffee skeptic into a believer.

They offer a long list of creative drinks alongside the classics, and honestly nail every single one. So no, this isn’t just a spot for coffee obsessives. Everyone’s welcome. But seriously, it’s a must-try for top-quality brews. On a hot day, the coffee shake is a total win: dessert vibes with an energy kick.

For the coffee-averse, there’s an equally tempting lineup of teas and matchas. The strawberry matcha latte is faultless. And because we all get peckish (especially on work-from-home days), their all-day brunch is a saviour. The banana bread or almond croissant makes the perfect sweet pick-me-up.

Have to try: All day brunch and coffee shake
Perfect for: Tasty drinks
Approx price for 2: £20–£25

Café Brera

Café Brera is a cutesy, wholesome Italian spot known for its baked goods. They even serve pizza and pasta—which we won’t dive into (this is a café guide, after all)—but if they’re anything like the coffee and sweet treats, they’ll definitely be top tier.

Sure, they’ve got all the classic drinks, but skip the usual because their specials are truly, well, special—and surprisingly healthy. Our favourite is the charcoal latte. Hear us out: charcoal powder mixed with oat milk, coconut syrup, and lavender. It sounds odd, but the flavours work beautifully. For something more conventional, the hot spiced chai latte never disappoints. Bonus: each special comes with a biscotti, perfect for dunking.

And because coffee practically demands a dessert on the side—and the smells here make it impossible to resist—we treated ourselves to the burciato cheesecake. This is a baked cheesecake layered with indulgent caramel and topped with fresh berries. Absolute heaven.

Have to try: Baked caramel cheesecake
Perfect for: Sweet treat and coffee
Approx price for 2: £20–£25

Caravan Canary Wharf

Okay, we might be stretching the definition of “café” here—Caravan is mainly a restaurant—but we treated it like one, so that counts. The interiors are gorgeous: warm, mellow tones that make it easy to relax or get work done without the usual chaos. No screaming kids, no servers shouting over each other. Just peace.

Their juice and smoothie menu reads like a beauty regime for skin and hair, and we couldn’t resist. The banana, peanut butter, date, and cocoa smoothie was an obvious 10/10—when has that combo ever failed? Just a heads-up: it’s so filling it could double as breakfast. For something lighter, go for the carrot, apple, ginger, and turmeric juice. Don’t worry, we really only could taste the apple and ginger; the rest is just a healthy bonus.

For a sweet light bite, the maple sesame granola is fresh, comforting, and hits that sweet tooth perfectly.

Have to try: Banana, peanut butter and cocoa smoothie
Perfect for: Filling breakfast
Approx price for 2: £25–£30

WatchHouse Canary Wharf

WatchHouse is a sleek, modern coffee shop—and easily the best spot on this list for knuckling down and smashing those deadlines.

They serve baked treats but no full meals, which is sometimes a blessing. The last thing we need is a waiter wafting past with a full English, tempting us into a food coma when we’re meant to be working (we know it’s not just us).

The coffee here is unbeatable. Our go-to is the cappuccino with oat milk—so good we didn’t even need a sweetener. That’s how we  know it’s quality: when the goal is to actually taste the coffee instead of drowning it in sugar.

And if a sweet craving hits, there’s a solid selection of pastries and baked goods that would hit the spot rather than derailing focus.

Have to try: Cappuccino
Perfect for: Working
Approx price for 2: £15–£20

Black Sheep Coffee

Black Sheep Coffee is definitely no stranger to Londoners. It’s an all-rounder—great for working, catching up with friends, or just curling up with a book. One note: on weekends it’s best for socialising rather than focusing. The buzz makes serious concentration tricky.

Seasonal specials are always on the menu, and our favourite has to be the autumn pumpkin-spiced latte. Whatever they drizzle on top is pure heaven. They’re also famous for their matchas, which skip that grainy, grassy taste many chains can’t seem to avoid. The flavour options are wild; we’re hooked on the iced blueberry matcha. Basic, maybe, but so refreshing and comfortingly fruity.

Food-wise, there’s a solid range of breakfasts and sweet treats. The waffles are a surprise standout—the nutella and banana combo is decadent enough to require a post-coffee toothbrushing, but absolutely worth it.

Have to try: Iced blueberry matcha
Perfect for: Catch up with friends

Ole and Steen

Ole & Steen is another chain that’s taken the London coffee scene by storm. This Danish bakery serves both sweet and savoury treats alongside top-quality coffee to wash it all down.

We stopped by in the morning when everything was fresh and steaming. The mushroom and omelette breakfast roll was a standout: fluffy egg, spinach, and cheddar tucked into a warm, buttery potato roll. Honestly, they could have served that bap with just the spiced butter and we’d have been happy.

Their baked-goods display is irresistible, from classic cookies and brownies to traditional Danish delicacies. The must-order here—practically a rite of passage—is the cinnamon social. It melts in your mouth: soft, doughy, and pure autumn comfort. Paired it with a steaming cappuccino and our day was made.

Have to try: Cinnamon social
Perfect for: Light breakfast and coffee
Approx price for 2: £15–£20

640East

Found on Montgomery Square, 640East is a super-modern, stylish café that serves all the classic coffees and a solid line-up of alcoholic drinks. It’s 5 p.m. somewhere, right? Who says cafés have to stick to warm beverages—fun drinks are welcome any time of day. Sometimes we just want that mellow buzz without the chaos of a noisy bar.

When it’s chilly, the Spanish latte is pure comfort in a mug. Made with condensed milk, it’s thick, creamy, and naturally sweet—no need to sneak extra sugar packets. On sunnier days, the Vietnamese cold brew really hits the spot. These are great when craving something beyond the usual order, but their classic coffees are just as good.

Don’t skip the toasties, either. We went for sourdough stacked with aged cheddar, ham, mustard, pickles, chili, and spring onions—perfectly balanced between indulgent and fresh. Yes, we burned our mouths on every bite, but that’s part of the toastie experience.

Have to try: Spanish latte and toasties
Perfect for: Catch up with friends
Approx price for 2: £20–£25

Grind Canary Wharf

Grind is a cutesy café with baby-pink interiors—totally Instagrammable and surprisingly practical for working. The space is open and airy, so it didn’t feel cramped or like we were elbow-to-elbow with strangers. We happily spread out our whole Apple cartography setup (because, honestly, everyone else is doing the same).

The drinks menu runs from all the classics to fun twists like beetroot and charcoal lattes for anyone who likes a healthier experiment. Seasonal specials are a highlight: the winter ginger snap latte instantly transported us to childhood, and we’re already plotting a trip back to try the pecan pie chai. Tell us that doesn’t sound like pure cosy heaven.

Pair any drink with a pain au chocolat and dip it right in for next-level comfort. They even sell their own coffee pods so anyone can recreate the magic at home.

Have to try: Gingersnap latte
Perfect for: Working
Approx price for 2: £15–£20

Third Space Café

We’ll be honest—knowing this café was in a gym and entirely health-focused was a little intimidating. But Third Space Café did not disappoint.

It’s all about enjoying the things we love—hearty meals and steaming coffees—but in a more mindful way. They have everything from lighter bites like wraps and sandwiches to full meals, neatly categorised by goals: lean, fuel, and vegetarian sections.

We started with their Mango Sunrise bottled shake. Honestly, we expected it to be an Innocent Smoothie carbon copy, but no! This was super fresh, sweet, and utterly refreshing. If we’d actually gone to the gym (which we most certainly did not), it would have been the perfect boost. For food, we went for the peri-peri chicken. Yes – essentially a Nando’s but without the guilt. It comes with all the essentials: spicy rice, macho peas, and slaw. What really elevated it was the peri-peri yogurt—tangy, fresh, and the perfect finishing touch.

Have to try: Mango sunrise shake
Perfect for: Healthy meal
Approx price for 2: £25–£30

Hazev

Hazev is an elegant restaurant with a homely vibe, thanks to its wooden-patterned furniture and floors. Yes, it’s technically a restaurant, but we loved their brunch and coffee. Definitely café-worthy and deserving of a spot on this list.

Everything sounded tempting, but we went for the roasted potato omelette. This was a delicious mix of eggs, potato wedges, cheese, and spring onions, served with a Mediterranean salad for freshness. It’s like all the best sides of a full English, condensed into one perfect bite. We also couldn’t resist a side of halloumi—because at a Mediterranean spot, halloumi is non-negotiable.

For breakfast dessert, we had to try the pancake tower. Since we already had a savoury meal, sharing was a must (thankfully!). And when they say “tower,” they mean it—each pancake is lavishly layered with golden syrup, nutella, and topped with fresh berries. Pure heaven.

Have to try: Pancake tower
Perfect for: Brunch with friends
Approx price for 2: £30–£35

Lisa Mifsud

Lisa’s always been a foodie first — but lately, she’s been swapping restaurant tables for café corners. From oat lattes to spicy brunch plates, she’s been sipping and snacking her way through Canary Wharf's best coffee spots.
